In
its fifteenth year, Plainview's Olde Fashioned Christmas
weekend is an event you don't want to miss! Event planners
encourage people to rekindle the warmth of holiday past
in Plainview.
One
highlight of Saturday's celebration that always pleases
adults and children alike is the FREE HORSE DRAWN WAGON
RIDES. The wagon route goes past a Live Nativity,
Old Man Scrooge, Brass Band, Handbell Choir, Decorated Homes,
and More. Rides will run from 5:00-8:30 p.m.
Tickets for rides can be picked up at Schad & Zabel
Funeral Home.
Another
crowdpleaser is theLIVE REINDEER, which will be on display
from 4:00-8:00 p.m. People have a once in a lifetime opportunity
to catch a ride on a sleigh pulled by live reindeer, so
bring your camera! Reindeer will be in the Lannings
Food Center parking lot, and the event is sponsored by Lannings.
Other
events include the Plainview Community & Youth Center's
FESTIVAL OF TREES. This highly successful fundraiser runs
Friday and Saturday and includes lunch and a bake sale.
The Lights for Life Cancer Fundraiser lighting ceremony
will be at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, followed by the Community
Tree Lighting at the Jon Hassler Theater at 4:45 p.m.
Businesses
that will either be open for holiday events or that have
sponsored events include People's State Bank, Haley Comfort
Systems, Dave's Toy Shed at Doane's Grain Service, ABC Day
Care and Montgomery Holst Realty. The Plainview History
Center, City Hall and the House of Hope will also be sites
for Christmas events.
