streams at two parks located just twenty minutes away from Plainview.
So, pack a lunch, grab your binoculars and put on a pair
of sturdy walking shoes! Nature is calling!
Carley
Park - located three miles south of Plainview on County
Rd. 4, Carley Park encompasses 209 acres of hardwood forest that
includes a stand of native white pine. You may spot white-tailed
deer, beaver, coyotes, red and gray fox, pileated woodpeckers,
great horned owls, and many migratory songbirds while following
the Whitewater River through Carley Park. And did we mention
meadows full of bluebells and other spring wild flowers?
Whitewater
State Park - located south of Elba, Minnesota, this 2,700
acre park offers fishing, swimming, a variety of hiking trails
that range from easy to challenging, year-round camping at campsites
and winterized cabins, cross-country skiing, showshoeing and a
visitor's center. The spring-fed Whitewater River and Trout Run
Creek offer angler's the opportunity to hook brown, brook, and
rainbow trout.
