The great outdoors is calling!  You'll find hiking trails, picnic and recreation areas, individual and group campsites, and trout streams at two parks located just twenty minutes away from Plainview.  So, pack a lunch, grab your binoculars and put on a pair of sturdy walking shoes! Nature is calling!

Carley Park - located three miles south of Plainview on County Rd. 4, Carley Park encompasses 209 acres of hardwood forest that includes a stand of native white pine. You may spot white-tailed deer, beaver, coyotes, red and gray fox, pileated woodpeckers, great horned owls, and many migratory songbirds while following the Whitewater River through Carley Park.  And did we mention meadows full of bluebells and other spring wild flowers?

Whitewater State Park - located south of Elba, Minnesota, this 2,700 acre park offers fishing, swimming, a variety of hiking trails that range from easy to challenging, year-round camping at campsites and winterized cabins, cross-country skiing, showshoeing and a visitor's center. The spring-fed Whitewater River and Trout Run Creek offer angler's the opportunity to hook brown, brook, and rainbow trout.
